My Approach
I am no stranger to tough stories or complex family dynamics. In therapy with me, you’ll find a safe space to discuss anything that’s weighing on you, even if it feels too heavy or complicated. If you’ve ever felt like you have to hide parts of yourself to avoid being misunderstood, I want you to know that all parts of you are welcome to therapy. If you’ve been told you’re “too much” , “too sensitive”, or you find yourself in unsatisfying or harmful relationships, we’ll work together to focus on what truly matters to you. By delving into your life’s story with care, we can help you find a path forward.
I am a trained psychodynamic therapist. In psychodynamic psychotherapy, we embark on a deep dive into your inner world, exploring the landscapes of your thoughts, feelings, and memories, some of which you might not even be aware of. It’s akin to putting together a jigsaw puzzle of your life, where we look at how past experiences, especially from childhood, influence your current behaviour and emotional state. Through this exploration, we uncover hidden patterns and unresolved conflicts that are influencing your life today. It’s a collaborative journey where, together, we shine a light on these parts of your story, offering insights and understanding. This process not only helps in healing old wounds but also empowers you to make more conscious choices, leading to richer, more authentic connections with yourself and others.
My work is also informed by attachment theory which helps us understand how our early relationships, especially with our caregivers, shape the way we connect with others throughout our lives. It’s like the emotional blueprint that guides us in forming friendships, romantic relationships, and even how we parent. In therapy, we gently explore these blueprints, identifying patterns that serve us well and those that might be keeping us stuck. It’s a bit like
unravelling a tangled necklace — patiently working through knots to find more freedom and ease in how we relate to ourselves and others. By fostering a safe and nurturing space, therapy can help you rewrite parts of your blueprint, enabling deeper connections and a more fulfilling life.
I have a special interest in trauma and dissociation. All therapy with me is Trauma-informed. Trauma-informed therapy recognises the deep impact of your experiences and views your emotional responses as normal reactions to abnormal events. Our work together honours your strength and resilience, creating a safe haven for healing. I understand that parts of you, each with its own story, have been protecting you in their unique ways. Instead of pushing these parts away, we’ll invite them into the conversation, approaching each with curiosity and care. By doing so, we help to ease internal conflicts and promote a sense of unity within you. This process is about pacing and patience, gently adjusting the chaos that trauma can leave behind, fostering a sense of empowerment, and guiding you towards a life where you feel whole and connected, both with yourself and the world around you.
The session fee is £85. Sessions are usually weekly and 50 minutes in length. Sometimes it is useful to work with long sessions especially when working with trauma.
