Practicalities

This page sets out the practical side of working together: fees, times, how to start, and what to expect. If anything is unclear or you have a specific question, please get in touch.

Fees

My standard fee is £95 for a 50-minute session.

Longer sessions are available when they are clinically useful. This may be when working with trauma, or when 50 minutes feels insufficient for the pace of processing that is needed. In some cases, longer sessions can be balanced with less frequent meetings if that suits the client needs.

For example when working with trauma:

  • 75 minutes – £142
  • 90 minutes – £170

Single Session Therapy is offered as a focused one-off conversation of 75 or 90 minutes. It is designed for a specific issue, where clarity or a different perspective would help. It is not suitable for crisis work or for processing trauma.

Fees are reviewed each January.

Payment

Payment is due 48 hours before the session by bank transfer (preferred). Cash is accepted for in-person sessions if preferred, though it is increasingly rare. Please note that I do not hold change in the office. Bank details will be provided when we arrange to work together.

Insurance

I am able to invoice Aviva and Axa directly where this has been agreed in advance. You remain responsible for any fees not covered by your insurer (including excesses, shortfalls, or declined claims).

Sessions and Frequency

Sessions are usually weekly and open-ended. This means the work continues for as long as it feels useful and we agree to keep meeting. Therapy ends when you feel ready to stop.

Starting Therapy

I offer a free introductory conversation (phone, video, or in person, whichever you prefer). This is a chance to talk through the practical arrangements and begin to explore what you are looking for.

If we decide to proceed, the next step is a full first session. This functions as both an
assessment and an opportunity for us both to sense whether the work feels like a good fit.

Working days and availability

I work Monday to Wednesday, 8am–7pm.

There may be a wait for the most popular times. Once we have spoken, I will let you know the current availability and how the waiting list works if needed.

Hybrid working (a mix of in-person and online sessions) is often possible, depending on both of our schedules.

Location and Parking

In-person sessions take place at: Shaftesbury House, Tylney Road, Bromley BR1 2RL

Parking is available on the street outside the building, except between 12–2pm when nearby roads will need to be used instead.

Online sessions are held via Zoom.

Cancellation policy

Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice are charged at the full fee, unless we are able to rearrange an alternative time in the same week. Your appointment time is reserved exclusively for you.

Breaks and holidays

I typically take around eight weeks off each year for training, conferences, research and
breaks. I always give advance notice of planned breaks.
